Furnace Replacement Cost in 2026: A Quote-Ready Planning Guide
Updated
Use $4,500–$10,500 as a HomeScore planning range for an installed 80k–100k BTU gas furnace, with $6,800 as the midpoint. This is not a database of contractor invoices or a promise about one home. Local labor, fuel, sizing, access and code work still require written quotes.
The range includes the furnace, professional installation, standard materials, startup and a permit/inspection allowance. It excludes major ductwork, fuel conversion, asbestos or mold remediation, structural work and repairs to unrelated systems.
AFUE is a seasonal fuel-use efficiency measure. ENERGY STAR says certified furnaces have higher AFUE ratings and more efficient blower motors than standard models. The U.S. Department of Energy defines AFUE as useful energy output divided by energy input over a heating season. Neither source supports HomeScore's dollar range, and AFUE by itself does not predict one home's utility savings.
